Windsurfing: Felixstowe-Golf Wind Direction: E Wind Stength: 14 Surf / Sea State: Nice swell and waves Air Temperature: 3.5 Sea Temperature: 6.5 Weather: sun Max Speed: 21.5 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 4.2 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Got down around 11 and Squiz was already out at the Dip. The shore dump was
growing in the onshore E so I went to the Golf where it was much better.
Occasional visitors Terry and Frank were packing up saying not really
windy: it looked 5m but I rigged 6m and went out into the nicest big swell
and waves I have seen at Felixstowe, but coming in there was not much wind
and started to get washed in shore. Had a couple of other nice rides but
came ashore well down wind as I could not get going for a while as wind was
not quite strong enough. Long walk back to Golf and tried again: same
result with a long walk back; then a third go and another walk back. Coming
in away from the Golf was into bad shore dump in a wind shadow and luckily
my rig survived but one time I was trapped under the sail in strong
back-wash - a bit scary. Darren went out on 5.3m and even he was struggling
at times. If wind was a little stronger would have been great day, and
maybe changing sands are going to make this a nice place to sail even when
winds are not so onshore. Lieing in the water trying to water start I got
cold so did not try again. It must warm up soon! About five kiters out
going great guns
